Genesis 17:3-9; Psalm 105:4-9; John 8:51-59
Who are you claiming to be?
Abram bowed to the ground before God in adoration. He believed in the One, True God. God re-named him “Abraham,” -- “father of a multitude of nations.” The covenant of love made by God with Abraham was fulfilled in the birth and ministry of Jesus of Nazareth, the incarnate Son of God. “… before Abraham ever was, I Am,” said Jesus to the unbelieving Jews. Unlike Abram, they refused to bow to the ground in adoration. They “picked up stones to throw at him.” Lord, I adore you. Forgive me for the times I’ve taken you for granted.
