He who sent me is with me
The rebellious impatience of the people and the blind opposition of the Pharisees confronted Moses and Jesus. In each situation, God offers the balm of mercy. The Lord to Moses: “Make a fiery serpent and put it on a standard. If anyone is bitten and looks at it, he shall live.” Jesus said to the Pharisees, “When you lift me up [on the cross] you will know that I am He.” The serpent and the cross – each a cause of death – becomes the instrument of God’s mercy. Lord, help me find you amidst the temptations and struggles of life.
