Elisha and Elijah foreshadow Jesus of Nazareth, the holy One of God

Both Naaman the leper and the widow of Zarephath were foreigners and pagans. Both were helped by the prophets, and both came to faith in the One, Holy God of Israel because they were obedient: Naaman to Elisha and the widow to Elijah. When Jesus appeared in Israel and taught the people in the synagogues, he was rejected by the leaders, even though the poor, the outcasts and many pagans loved him.
Turn to Jesus and pray to him in the words of Naaman: “Now I know that [in Jesus] there is no God in all the earth except in Israel.”
