The Lord is kind and merciful

Today’s readings celebrate the loving mercy of God. In the story of the two sons, Jesus teaches us that our Father will never abandon us even when we abandon him. He’s always out looking for us to come to our senses by repenting of our sins and receiving his mercy. The younger son repented and embraced his Father. The older son turned his back on his brother and Father. He excluded himself from the family feast.
Lord, give me the grace to have true sorrow for my sins.
