MEMORIAL OF ST. AGATHA

1 Kings 8:1-7, 9-13; Psalm 132; Mark 6:53-56

We shall touch God

In our first reading, with great fanfare and solemnity, Solomon places the ark of the covenant into the innermost part of the Temple – the Holy of Holies. Here God will dwell in the midst of his people, Israel.

In our gospel reading, Jesus is mobbed by people in every town, village, or farm he visits, curing those who were in need.

We are temples of the Holy Spirit. The Lord dwells in our innermost sanctum – the heart – where he desires to make us whole but only if we, in turn, desire to run to him, reach out and touch him.
