2 Samuel 12:1-7, 10-17; Psalm 51; Mark4:35-41
Create a clean heart in me, O God
King David had many faults. He was violent and short-tempered. He stole Uriah’s wife, Bathsheba, and had Uriah killed. The prophet Nathan confronted David and he repented. The heading for Psalm 51 refers to David’s sin and sorrow. We all make mistakes and commit sin. Sometimes others confront us, but mostly we confront ourselves. How foolish I was! God is always merciful and brings good out of our weakness. Let’s not forget that Bathsheba and David were ancestors of Jesus. “Have mercy on me, O God.”
