The way of Jesus

In following Jesus we learn a different way. He reaches out to those in need and seeks to make the lives of others better, especially the disadvantaged. This is his way and through time it slowly becomes our way too. In the parable we hear that this rich man advises himself, speaks to himself, consults himself and plans a future for himself. It doesn't really get more self-absorbed than that, enclosed in on self. So at odds with the way of Jesus. There are no riches for self, but there is a richness in making the lives of others better. We are to build barns of compassion.
