Forgive and forgive

Jesus Christ tells me a graphic story today about the relationship of my sin, repentance and forgiveness to my ability to forgive others the hurt they inflict on me. Forgiving must be done often and deeply. In marriage both frequency and depth of forgiveness are important. A willingness to forgive from the heart means not bringing out old hurts every time a relationship breaks down. It means seeing my own failings in a situation and dying to those before I see another’s sin. It means falling on the utter goodness of God who loves sinners.
