Staying true

In the ordination of a priest, the bishop addresses the candidate: Meditate on the law of God, believe what you read, teach what you believe, and put into practice what you teach. These are words for everyone who accepts the way of Jesus. I cannot follow him without a preparedness to always do what is right and to avoid hypocrisy in my words or actions. Being ready to meet the Lord means staying true to what I believe and giving faithful witness in my conversation and behaviour. Dear Lord, strengthen me to remain in your love by staying true to the tasks you have given me to do.
