St Bartholomew, Apostle

Apocalypse 21:9-14; Psalm 145; John 1:45-51

Come and see

The call of the apostles began with their own curiosity. One asked where Jesus lived and he replied, ‘Come and see.’ They sat and talked with Jesus and felt increasingly drawn to him. We should do the same. Go to where Jesus is most especially present for us – in the Tabernacle. Sit and talk with him: Jesus, you intrigue me. I want to know more about you. Help me understand that I, too, can be your close companion. Teach me your ways, then open my heart to see the unfolding of your plan for me. Amen.
