2 Corinthians 9:6-10; Psalm 112; John 12:24-26

The image Jesus gives us of the wheat grain dying in the earth yet yielding a rich harvest, so rightly fits the commemoration of a martyr. But it also unveils something of the mystery of every life. St Francis’ it’s in giving that we receive, is an extension of the same image, reminding me that only by ‘letting go’ of my life, not keeping it solely for myself but gifting it in the service of others, will I find the true meaning of my life, its purpose and its fulfilment. Can I make such a gift today?
