My peace I give you

We sometimes forget that Jesus was a faithful Jew who observed the Law handed down within Israel from generation to generation. In today’s Gospel, Jesus, the faithful Jewish teacher, addresses his Jewish disciples and the Jewish crowds gathered to hear his words. He offered them his peace. We may be tempted to ask why it has taken so long for his peace to come to the world. Perhaps we should rather ask, 'How I can offer God's peace to the people I meet today?'
