FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

Acts 2:14,36-41; Psalm 23; 1 Peter 2:20-25;
John 10:1-10

I know mine

In today's Gospel Jesus speaks of a sheepfold, which was known to his listeners, but is unfamiliar to us, who are more familiar with flocks of many thousands of sheep grazing over a large area of countryside. In Palestine the shepherd would lead his sheep into an enclosed area. He would then lie across the entrance to protect his animals from marauding wolves during the night. How treasured I can feel to know that Jesus is the Good Shepherd who is prepared to lay his life down for me!
