Hearts aflame

Sometimes, if we are fortunate, our hearts may ‘burn within us,’ as happened to the two disciples on the way to Emmaus. This may happen in times of prayer, or when we are spending good time with friends or family, or when we see something or someone truly beautiful to our eyes. Such experiences are to be treasured, as, for people of faith, they are a hint of eternity, a glimpse of the beyond, and a foretaste of paradise, won for us by the One who died and rose from the dead.
