Recognising Christ

The Jewish religious leaders and scholars failed – indeed refused – to recognise the Messiah, the ‘Christ,’ in the person of a humble, uneducated, village carpenter. There is an inherent flaw in the human psyche which inclines us to judge by appearances. For our part we recognise Christ in our prayer and in Word and Eucharist, of course. But does that inherent human flaw also blind us to Christ’s presence in others, especially those whose ‘appearance’ may seem most un-Christ-like?
