Visit us God

Today’s Psalm: ‘O shepherd of Israel hear us, shine forth from your cherubim throne. God of hosts, turn again we implore. Look down from heaven and see. Visit this vine and protect it.’ As I read this Psalm, I am struck by the verbs used to address God. We ask God to hear us, shine forth, come, turn again. We implore God to look down, to visit us, to protect us. We are in good company when we ask God to hear us, visit us, look down on us. Our ancestors have prayed these psalms too. O God, may you visit us and protect us today.
