Fishers of men

Jesus called four fishermen in today’s Gospel. The reason He called the fishermen was that He knew they would be fishers of men. And they were, because after Jesus rose from the dead and sent the Holy Spirit upon them at Pentecost, they took the Good News to the known world and brought much of it to faith. Paul’s letter is famous to evangelists – he calls us to preach, to bring unbelievers to belief. Read Paul’s words again. Don’t they apply just as much, if not more, today? The responsibility has passed to our generation.
