Healing on the Sabbath

In Jesus’ time there were so many laws forbidding work on the Sabbath that the only way to draw water from a well, was from a bucket attached to a woman’s girdle. With laws so complicated, Jesus did not hesitate to heal people on the Sabbath. A woman with a spinal curvature was cured in the synagogue where Jesus was teaching, and an official got upset. We smile at that. Salvation is another name for healing. Surely, a synagogue on the Sabbath is the right time and place.
