God is not small

In his letter to Timothy, Paul writes: God’s message cannot be put in chains. This is a big statement, also taught by Jesus in the gospel reading. In fact, Jesus seems to go out of his way to show that the Jews did not have ownership of God. God is God of the Samaritans, God of a Roman centurion, God of a Canaanite woman, God of the ‘pagans’ in the Decapolis countries. When we embrace Jesus’ view, we realise that our lovely religious paths lead to one centre of light - to God immeasurable who holds us all in love.
