Tears

In these readings the disciple sees what it is to cross over into the life of God. Words break, straining to capture the inner life of God. Images take precedence over words. Daniel calls these night visions. The light of God is so great that it floods the natural senses, so in a sense the soul is blind. After experiencing such events in prayer the disciple is overcome, such is the shaking of the soul’s foundations (Haggai 2:6).
