First things first

Today’s first reading reminds us that nobody can be left to do everything – and nor should anyone attempt to do everything. The apostles realised that they had a key spiritual task – preaching the word of God – but that there were other needs, too, such as taking care of the physical needs of people. And so they enlisted others to help them. Sometimes we try to take on too much and our spiritual life gets neglected. Let us take time to reflect and to discern what God is asking of us so that we can keep our priorities in right order.
