Tuesday in Holy Week

Isaiah 49:1-6, Ps 71, John 13:21-23, 36-38

I am human like Peter

Am I present with my troubled Lord as he does what has to be done, as he obeys God’s will for himself and for me? Jesus Christ knows he is doing the right thing. He speaks of this right action as giving glory to God and of God glorifying him. He knows how lonely this journey is becoming as people stop following him. I get some idea of how hard it is to be with Jesus this week when I read that even Peter is going to distance himself from the Person he knows is the Son of God. Peter has yet to learn the human price of glorifying God in the world, of being a light to others.
