Familial love

How hard it is to watch those we think less good than ourselves getting special attention in the Christian life. Jesus Christ knows this and gives us this family story where we see God’s great forgiveness and mercy at work in the father of the prodigal son. In the son we see a longing to be back within his family. He swallows his pride to bring that about. Jesus comes into our families in person as food in the Eucharist, helping us to be in communion with one another. Gracefully and with love we pool our human weaknesses and make a new creation, a unity out of difference, a happy family.
