The Question

The story of John the Baptist’s murder raises the frequently asked question: why does God allow bad things happen to good people and why does he allow evil to so often triumph over good? I wonder whether God’s answer may be another question: “Why do you think I allowed the very worst things possible to be done to the very best person who ever lived?”
