Ps 9; 1Maccabees 6:1-13; Luke 20:27-40

Are we lucky?

Are we jealous of those who appear to have everything they want, influence, money, power, etc? King Antiochus was one but in the end he had no one to turn to and died a lonely death. Then the elderly lady offers another perspective about her agnostic friend in his coffin, “Poor John all dressed up and nowhere to go.” Even King David asked for God’s help as he grew older - “Do not cast me away when I am old…do not forsake me when my strength is gone” Are we not fortunate to have God on our side? Through the grace of God death is not an end for us but a beginning.
