Blessed are they who mourn

All Souls’ Day is the time for us to recall and pray for family, friends, neighbours, etc who have passed away. The Sisters at my convent school encouraged us to say a prayer in the church for the release of a soul from Purgatory. In our child-like enthusiasm we made many visits! The priests must have smiled watching us go in and out like bees at the hive. But who knows, our visits may have helped a soul or two. There is a plenary indulgence available today, either by visiting a church or a cemetery. And shall we offer a prayer for some who may have no one to remember them.
