Jesus is approaching

Today’s Gospel tells the story of Bartimeus, the blind beggar. Imagine yourself as part of this scene. You are sitting at the side of the road. You know you are blind in some areas of your life. You hear that Jesus is approaching. You call out to Jesus even though the crowd tells you to be quiet. ‘Jesus I’m here, take notice of me.’ Other people encourage you. “Courage, get up, he is calling to you.” You get up, leaving behind your precious possessions. Jesus speaks to you. “What do you want me to do for you?” What do you say to Jesus? He listens to you as if you are the only one present. His presence somehow makes you whole.
