The treasure in the field

We can look at this parable in a new way. We are fields, ordinary fields with a few stones and weeds, some fertile areas, subject to seasonal change. That is the nature of a field. But we all have a sacred treasure in us. That treasure belongs in the field. The man who gives up everything to purchase the field is Christ Jesus. What’s more, he rejoices in his ownership. Doesn’t that sound like good news?
