The Sower

This parable was a favourite when I was young, mainly because I considered myself to be the patch of fertile ground. It was a while before I recognized the other areas in my life, longer still before I understood that the sower keeps on sowing. This year’s thorns make compost for next year’s seeds. The birds swallow seeds and excrete them in other places. The barren soil has had rain and become fertile. Jesus is the sower. He never stops sowing and I believe that ultimately, all seeds spring to life in God.
