We are what is closest to his heart

We easily focus on our sin or that of others forgetting God’s mercy. Pope Francis says, “We hear many offers from the world around us; but let us take up God’s offer instead: his is a caress of love. For God, we are not numbers, we are important; indeed we’re the most important thing to him. Even if we are sinners, we are what is closest to his heart.” Lent invites us to Reconciliation and to trust Jesus’ words, “neither do I condemn you… go and sin no more.” The church of mercy joyfully shares that freedom.
