Doing Lenten Laundry: “You’ll never regret a Lent well spent.”

Isaiah promises that though our sins are scarlet ‘they shall be white as snow’. Looking at snow-capped Ruapehu on a sunny day, that seems astonishing.

But God has the perfect, practical, achievable plan for doing Lenten laundry. Isaiah tells us to “Cease evil. Learn to do good, search for justice, help the oppressed, be just to the orphan, plead for the widow”. Jesus calls us to active mercy, letting God’s love flow to others without drawing attention to ourselves. Which of today’s washing instructions do I find most challenging?
