Command to love

If we are to be like God, our love must go well beyond loving those who love us in return because God’s love is like the sun which shines on the good and bad alike. God’s love is like the rain that falls on the just and unjust alike. We are, indeed, God’s people if we live by God’s commandments. To love God and neighbour as oneself is a summary of all of God’s commandments; and that love of God and neighbour encompasses friend and foe alike if we are to become perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect.
