Chosen for a Task

The 12 men chosen by Jesus had no special qualifications. They were all very ordinary, undistinguished men. Indeed the Gospels highlight their weaknesses rather than their strengths. In fact, they were rather like you and me. But Jesus chose them (as he chooses you and me). He gave them a task (as with you and me). He empowered them for that task by the gift of the Holy Spirit (and you and me). He promised to be with them always (and with you and me). We are Christ’s disciples in today’s world. What tasks has he given each of us?
