Empty yourself for God

In a physical sense the truth is obvious: we come into this world without anything; we leave taking nothing. We can enter God’s heavenly kingdom when we leave – but in the meantime we must discard accumulated baggage: our big and petty sins, our desire for the treasures of this world and our easy dismissal of God’s word when it suits us. Instead, we must give ourselves over to God’s will, which furnishes our physical and spiritual lives with love.

Dear Lord, may I be blessed by you today and filled with the joy of doing your will.
