When plans go so wrong

“Not I, Rabbi, surely?” When Judas Iscariot asked Jesus this question, did he ever think that his plan to sell Jesus for thirty pieces of silver would end up such a horrendous mistake? Did he ever believe that the kingdom Jesus spoke of so often was not to be a kingdom of this world? And did he ever consider that, this time, Jesus would not escape from his captors as he had done so effortlessly on previous occasions? Sadly, this time, Judas, the betrayer, would be betrayed by his own deceit.
