As long as they’re happy

In this early part of His teaching ministry, Jesus makes it clear that being His disciple does not mean happiness in this life. He promises instead inestimable rewards in His eternal kingdom. Short term earthly happiness cannot be a substitute for this. Sometimes we justify decisions by saying; “As long as they’re happy.” Next time we hear or say that phrase, think about what real happiness is.
