Taste and see

‘Taste and see,’ the psalmist says, ‘that the Lord is good.’ He gives his own testimony to God’s gracious deliverance. Whether it was from a severe illness or a military crisis that he was saved, he experienced the protection of God’s angels. Having known God’s deliverance at first hand, he invites others to ‘taste and see’ for themselves how trustworthy God is to those who take refuge in him. The fear of the Lord is no guarantee that life will always be easy, but it is a guarantee that God will always be with us.
