Psalm 147, Deuteronomy 4:1,5-9,
Matthew 5:17-19

Great is the Lord

Read Psalm 147 carefully and a pattern of praise emerges. The psalm begins and ends with praise and divides easily into three sections. The beauty of this psalm is its declaration that the God who throws the stars into space is the One who heals the broken-hearted. The power behind the universe has a personal face, turned towards us in steadfast love (v. 11b). This psalm is an expression of the incarnation – the personal, intimate, inextricably involved ‘enfleshing’ of God in his world. May our eyes be opened to God’s presence and power with us today.
