Knowing Jesus

When we go to a funeral it is very common that someone gives a eulogy. The life, personality and the high esteem in which the deceased is held is painted verbally. This prologue to John’s first letter is a bit like that. It illustrates the awesome privilege John and others felt in personally knowing Jesus “the Word, who is life”. He was someone who had been heard, seen, watched and touched. He was more than just an ordinary likeable individual, he was the living walking message of love and mercy sent by God our Father. May I too experience the joy of knowing Jesus personally.
