Drinking life.

At a retreat for Youth Workers and Social Workers each person poured into the chalice at the Offertory time a small cup of wine that symbolised their lives and the lives of all the people they worked with. We all drank the pain, the hope, the fear, the joy, the suffering, the dreams, the griefs and the anxieties of God’s people. As each person said ‘Amen’ as they received the blood of Christ there was a heightened sense of Jesus’ question: “Can you drink the cup of suffering?” We all did.
