Gift of self like gold

According to Matthew’s Gospel, the Magi found Jesus “by following a star”. The three gifts they gave him – frankincense, myrrh and gold – are interesting because of the properties they suggest: frankincense (which comes from the Boswellian tree and can even grow out of incredibly harsh environments – even rock; myrrh grows in dry, stony soil; while gold is soft, bright and malleable.

Like frankincense and myrrh, faith can spring forth in any environment:

I will offer God today my harvest of faith and ask Him to help me be malleable to His will and reflect His light.
