Fourth Sunday of Advent

2 Samuel 7: 1-5, 8-12, 14, 16
Ps. 89, Romans 16: 25-27,
Luke 1: 26-38

Mother of the secret

Mary,
Receiver of the secret
kept hidden
down the ages.
Mary,
Keeper of the secret
pondering it
in your heart.
Mary,
Revealing the secret,
the secret for all peoples,
the wisdom of salvation.
In the first reading, a lamb was sacrificed
to bring protection to God’s people. And thereby foreshadowing the salvation Christ would bring. Saint Paul calls this ‘God’s secret’ that was hidden from even the ancient prophets. Through Mary’s faith and obedience we can come to know it.
