Hidden and unknown

The power of office comes with baubles attached. Power demands to be noticed. The unofficial status of disciples of Jesus Christ comes with a warning against seeking power for its public face. Jesus knows it is in my human nature to want power and baubles. He tells me to be a servant, a person without standing in the community and without puffing out my ‘phylacteries’. There is plenty of power seeking subtly going on today. Am I part of that? Look to Mary today as the model disciple.
