Build on rock

After Josiah, the kings of Judah were unfaithful to God. Consequently, Jerusalem was sacked, the Temple pillaged, and the people of Judah were exiled. Judah was a house built on sand, and so it fell. Jesus teaches us to build our lives on the rock of his words. In doing so, we will stand firm against whatever the world throws against us. But Jesus’ words are to be lived and not just parroted. Therefore, it is not those who cry ‘Lord, Lord’ who will enter the kingdom of heaven, but those who do God’s will, those who practice what they preach.
