St. Bernard abbot and doctor of the church

Ruth 2:1-3,8-11,4:13-17, Ps.128, Matthew 23:1-12

Walking the Talk

St Bernard was a Cistercian monk who travelled extensively trying to reconcile the divisions in the Church of the time even though he longed for a solitary contemplative life. He wanted unity and peace among people. Jesus tells us to be united as brothers and sisters in Christ, living as equals together with one teacher – The Christ.

“You have one Father, your Father in heaven; you have one teacher: the Lord Jesus Christ!”

O God, let me recognize you in the people I meet today and let me treat them as my brother and sister.
