The outstretched hand

The humanity of Jesus is very evident in today’s gospel. Jesus is deeply troubled in spirit.

He is distressed. Such a human feeling. What does Jesus do? It is hard to comprehend that your friend, one you chose, has become your betrayer. Jesus reaches out to Judas, gives him another chance. Jesus never abandons or rejects his friends. Judas accepts the morsel offered but does not change his mind. Satan had entered into him and he leaves as soon as he eats the bread. Can I reach out to one who hurt me? Or accept the outstretched hand of reconciliation?
