Seeking forgiveness

In Luke’s gospel, it was kind of Jesus to defend the woman against Simon, the Pharisee. Simon saw a sinner who shouldn’t even be in the house. But Jesus saw a woman who loved much. She made Jesus welcome when Simon had not. Jesus forgave her sins and sent her away with a blessing of peace. This woman shows us how to seek forgiveness before God – with all our hearts. The reading also offers us a challenge – to look at others, not with harsh, judgemental eyes like Simon, but with the loving eyes of Jesus.
