ST BENEDICT, ABBOT (M)

Isaiah 6:1-8; Psalm 93; Matthew 10:24-33

Here I am, I will go

Benedict, somewhat dissatisfied with the worldliness of his surroundings, lived in a cave and then, with his followers, started a monastery at Monte Cassino. He heard the same words that triggered Isaiah into action. The Lord calls, “Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger”? Isaiah answered, “Here I am, send me”. I can make the same answer in my life – send me. Who to? Someone in need? Lonely? Sad? Worried? And Jesus promises, “No need to be afraid. I am with you, always and wherever”.
