Love your enemy

There are without a doubt some moments or days in which it is extremely difficult to love our enemies, the thought of it alone can spiral us. This invitation of Jesus is among the most challenging of his commands. In fact, this invitation to love our enemies distinguishes Christianity from other World Religions. Once it finally dawns on me that I can’t do this we begin to experience how much we need the help of Jesus. Jesus loves us as we are and this truth is contagious, swimming in this love deeply and slowly, we begin to notice that even our enemies might become loveable. After all they, as we, are no less recipients of God’s love. The invite then deepens to being God’s presence in our world.
