Ask and it will be given

During Lent we can have a second look. Despite all the societal emphasis on being self- made or becoming self-sufficient, we know that we have limits and needs. Jesus reminds us simply to ask. To admit our inadequacy and then more deeply utter our reliance on a loving God. “Ask and it will be given to you.” So, taking a “second look” clarifies any illusions that we can do this or handle this all on our own. Further, to know that we all have deficiencies and to be reminded that Jesus invites us to treat one another as we would like to be treated.
